Girl Guides Movement

2020-10-23 Fri

Girl Guides Movement came into existence in 1909 because girls demanded to participate just like Boy Scout. The “World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts” was established in 1928 and has member organisation from 145 countries.

The aim of this organisation was to send medical aid and relief work for injured soldiers of World wars.

It was said in those days that “If a girl is not allowed to run, or even hurry, to swim, ride a bike, or raise her arms above her head, how can she become a Scout?” Still, Girl Scouts got registered at Scout headquarters. The firs registered Guide was named ‘Pinkneys Green Guides’ which still exist in Pinkneys Green, Maidenhead, and Berkshire.

Transgender is also admitted to units in a few countries. The organisation embodies physical fitness, survival skills, camping, citizenship training, and career preparation.

Herewith, the stamp is issued by Belize on their golden jubilee of Guiding.
