The famous winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics was Lev Davidovich Landau. He was a Soviet physicist, he contributed to many areas of theoretical physics. Lev Landau also contributed to the co-discovery of the density matrix method in quantum mechanics. He also participates in the study and research of the density matrix method in quantum mechanics.

Lev Landau put forth many theory like the quantum mechanical theory of diamagnetism, the theory of superfluidity, the theory of second-order phase transitions, the Ginzburg–Landau theory of superconductivity, the theory of Fermi liquid, the description of Landau damping in plasma physics and the Landau pole in quantum electrodynamics.

In 2008, on the 100th anniversary of Lev Landau, Two Russian rubles with the composition of 0.925 silver was issued as a collector coin weight around 17g. This coin was issued in the period of the Russia Federation.
