Assam was the Independent Kingdom during the medieval period in India. Today it situated in the northeastern part of India. Coins issued by this kingdom are of distinct style and it is very much different from the coins issued by the other kingdoms in India.

This silver half rupee was issued by king Lakshmi Simha during his reign in Assam. The weight of this coin is around 5.5g. The obverse side of this coin is inscribed as ‘Sri Sri Ha/ri Hara Pada/ Parasya’. The reverse side of this coin is inscribed as ‘Sri Sri La/time Simha Na/ rendrasya’.
