Indore was a Princely State during the British rule in India; it is also known as Holkar State. Today Indore is located in the Indian States of Madhya Pradesh.
The rulers of Princely State Indore were from Holkar Dynasty. The Holkar dynasty was a Maratha clan of Dhangar origin in India. The Holkars were one of the most powerful dynasties in Indian history. The Holkars were generally from Dangal clan that's found in Maharashtra. The Princely State of Indore was entitled to a 19-gun salute.
This silver nazarana rupee was issued by Jaswant Rao of Princely State Indore. The weight of this silver Nazarana Rupee is around 14.7g. The obverse of a coin showed the Persian legend ‘Maharajadhiraja Jaswant Rao Holkar Bahadur, on top Az Saheb-e-Khilafat Sayyed Rafi’. The reverse of a coin depicts the legend ‘Sikka Mubarak Saheb-e-qirani Sani Sultan Muhammad Akbar’.
