Russian Royal Charity Coin by Niue Mint

Niue Island in the year 2012 issued an amazing set of two coins with the denominations of 50 Dollars Silver Coin 3000 Dollars Gold Coin.

This gorgeous coin is dedicated to the charity for which the monarchs of Russia were famous. The most prominent in this field was the Russian Empress “Maria Feodorovna Romanova”, who was also the patron of Red Cross Russia. In all large cities across the Russian Empire, she founded orphanages and hospitals.

On the obverse in the central part are images of the palaces Ivanovsky Convent, Moscow Orphanage, Alexander-Mariinsky Care Home, Olginskaya community nurses. Between them is the mark of the Red Cross. At the top is an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and semicircular inscriptions: ELIZABETH II, Niue Island - the issuer. At the bottom are inscriptions: the year of issue and the face value.

On the reverse in the central part are images of Tsar Aleksander III and Tsarina Maria Fiodorovna. Between them is an image of the Peter and Paul Fortress.
