Shams Al-Din Ilyas Shah Gold Half Tanka Sold For INR 5,00,000

Shams Al-Din Ilyas Shah was the first sultan and the founder of the Ilyas Shah Dynasty. This dynasty was one of the leading dynasties of the Bengal Sultanate. This dynasty ruled Bengal Sultanate for almost 150 years. In these 150 years, they also tried to maintain both their economic and military power. It was the first independent unified Bengal Kingdom under Muslim rule.The weight of this gold tanka is around 5.42g and it was sold for INR 5,00,000 in an electronic auction of Todywalla which was held on 5th July 2020. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Al-Sultan Al-Ghazi’. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Shams Al DunyaWa’l Din’.
