Rajendra Kumar the Jubilee Star of Bollywood was born today on 20th July 1929. Having started his career with Patanga where he played a small role, Rajendra in his illustrious career spanning over four decades starred in more than 80 films.

A multiple award-winning actors, Rajendra Kumar was one of the most successful actors in Bollywood. A few of his most notable film credits include Mother India, Gharana, Ayee Milan Ki Bela, Dil Ek Mandir, Mera Naam Joker, Love Story, and Insaaf Ka Khoon.

For his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema, the Government of Indian honored Rajendra Kumar with the coveted Padma Shri in 1969. Rajendra Kumar`s glorious career came to an end when he succumbed to cancer on 12th July 1999, just a few days before his 70th birthday.

To honor this Tragedy King of Bollywood, India Postal Service has issued a commemorative postage stamp of value 500 Paise.
