On 21st to 22nd November 2018 Spink auction house commenced an auction, it offered a lot from the Hermione collection, one of the finest collection from France. The highlight of this auction was the 1919-22 Blanc Surcharged Inverted block ‘GC’ paper 1/2c on 1c grey of thirty.

According to the auction’ it’s a superb and unique block extraordinarily combining two varieties, making a spectacular showpiece of the highest caliber of a rarity in this issue; one of the greatest gems of the post-classic France’.

This extraordinary piece has been hidden for nearly 50 years. This rare stamp became even rarer when the sheet got folded during the printing process by leaving non-surcharged stamps se-tenant with surcharged stamps.
