World Environment Day 2020
2020-06-05 Fri
The year 2020 began with environmental crisis. Wildfires in tropical and the Australian bushfires! Cyclones and floods in India! Locust attacks across Africa and India and the coronavirus pandemic is ever going all these calamities act as a reminder that human health is linked to the planet's health. The fact is that the current environmental crisis is a warning that we must heed collectively. We must now fundamentally rethink our relationship with the living world, with natural ecosystems and their biodiversity. The theme of World Environment 2020 is 'celebrating biodiversity' — a concern that is both urgent and existential. On this occasion let’s get acquainted with a very beautiful 10 rupees banknote of India depicting different flora and fauna of the country. The 10 rupees note shown above is a 1975 issue. The note depicts the biodiversity of India. Known as the peacock note of India, the note depicts two peacocks in the central vignette with antelopes, a horse, and doves along with Lotus flowers.
