Madagascar made a debut in the Olympic Games from 1964. Since 1964, it has sent athletes to every game except in the 1976 and 1988 years. The largest number of athletes who were ever sent to the Olympic was in 2000. In 1968 Summer Olympic, Jean Louis Ravelomanantsoa was the first from Madagascar to reach the final of the men’s 100-meter race and finished eighth.
They have never won the medal but still, Madagascar post has issued seven stamps of different summer sports to encourage their athletes and also to budding sport-boys or girls in 1972.
It appeared for the first time in the Winter Olympics in 2006. In 2009, Madagascar won the Cognitive Olympic in Milwaukie, Oregon.
Since 1964, Madagascar has participated in Summer Olympics in Games such as Athletics, Cycling, Boxing, Tennis, Swimming, Judo, Weightlifting, and Wrestling. It has shown its presence at Winter Olympics in Alpine skiing sport.
