The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a significant landmark document in the history of human rights. The declaration of Human Rights was proclaimed by the United Nations on 10th December 1948 in Paris. This was translated into 500 languages and its main objective was to safeguard fundamental human rights universally of all human beings irrespective of diverse backgrounds.
The Brazilian Central Bank has issued a special commemorative coin of 1 Real on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Banco Central do Brasil issued limited edition of 600, 000 coins.
The composition of the metal used in preparing coin is copper-nickel and it weighs 7.84 g. The edge of the coin is interrupted serrations. The coin features the official logo of ‘Human Rights’ and Brazil's map. In the outer circle, given inscriptions are “Declaracao Universal dos Direitos Humanos Cinquentenario” (50th anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights).
