Star-Spangled Banner Commemorative 1 Dollar Silver Coin

The Star-Spangled Banner is the national flag of the United States of America. It consists of 13 horizontal red strips alternated with white strips; These 13 strips represent thirteen British colonies that declared independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain and became the first states in the United States. The blue rectangle in the canton bears 50 small five-pointed white stars arranged in nine offsets horizontal rows, where rows of six stars (top and bottom) alternate with rows of five stars. The 50 stars of the flag represent 50 states of the United States of America.

The United States of America had issued this commemorative 1 Dollar coin with the theme of Star-Spangled Banner in the year 2012. This commemorative coin was issued to honor a place, person and events. The surcharges from the sale of this coin were used to fund a variety of organizations and were used in the project to benefit the public. The obverse of this coin depicts the design of Lady Liberty waving the 15-star, 15-stripe Star-Spangled Banner with Fort McHenry in the Background. The reverse of this coin depicts Star-Spangled Banner" (the flag). It depicts a waving modern American flag.
