Radhanpur was a Princely State during the British rule in India; under the Palanpur Agency of the Bombay Presidency. It was established by Khan Janan in the year 1693 CE. The Nawabs of Radhanpur were Pathans of the Babi family who rose to a high office in the service of Shah Jahan and Murad Bakhsh in Gujarat.

Khan Jahan was the founder of the Babi dynasty; Radhanpur came under British rule in 1813 AD. The Nawab of Radhanpur was the Pathan of Babi family who rose to the highest post in the service of Shah Jahan and Murad Bakhsh in Gujarat. In the early 18th century one of the members of the family was appointed as a Faujdar of Radhanpur and surrounding area. After the death of Aurangzeb, Kamal-ud-din Khan Babi seized the governorship of Ahmadabad. He had to discontinue this post due to the force of Peshwa of Poona and Gaekwad of Baroda. However, Radhanpur remained in the Babi control until 1820 when the State finally came under British control.

This silver rupee which weighs around 10.44g was issued by Zorawar Khan during his reign. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Nawab Zorawar Khan Bahadur, Yak Rupya with AH 1287’. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Mallika-e-Moazzima, Queen Victoria, Zarb Radhanpur, 1871’.
