No Smoking Day

Every year on the second Wednesday of March is observed as No Smoking Day. This year it is celebrated on 11th March, the main purpose of this day is to spread awareness about the harmful health effects of tobacco consumption through the cigarette and other modes. The important aspect is t help the smoker to get rid of the habit.The risk factor of the smoking habit is high in youth between the ages of 12 to 17 years old. Over time health issues like bronchitis, pneumonia, stroke, and many types of cancer out of which oral cancer is quite common.
Many countries and organizations have taken different measures to help people from quite smoking. One of the best aspects is propagating through every day small mediums. Many Postal services across the globe have also issued a stamp to convey the message of No smoking.
The above-shown stamp was issued by Syria in 1998 to promote the No smoking motto. It depicts the graphic image of a damaged heart through which a cigarette is passing.
