Macedonia 50 Denari Polymer Note
2020-02-18 Tue
Polymer banknotes are banknotes made from a synthetic polymer such as biaxially oriented polypropylene. Such notes incorporate many security features not available in paper banknotes. In the year 2018, the Republic of Macedonia issued a set of 5 colorful Polymer Notes featuring bold designs. The denar is the currency of the Republic of Macedonia. It is subdivided into 100 denis. The first denar was introduced on April 26, 1992, and replaced the 1990 version of the Yugoslav dinar at par. On May 5, 1993, the currency was reformed, with one new denar (MKD) being equal to 100 old denari (MKN).
The National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia started issuing these 50 Macedonian Denar banknotes in 1996. The same design has been incorporated in the new Polymer Notes of 2018. The note depicts byzantine copper follis of Anastasia at center-right and as a watermark on the obverse and Archangel Gabriel at the left-center on back.
