The United States of America had issued this commemorative coin with the theme of Lou Hoover in the year 2014. Lou Hoover was the first lady and wife of Herber Hoover the 31st president of the United States of America.

Lou Hoover was the first woman to graduate with a degree in geology from Stanford University. She also served as a president for the well-known girl’s leadership and service organization. Both Herber Hoover and Lou Hoover loved China and spoke Mandarin Chinese throughout their lives.

The obverse of this coin depicts the bust of Lou Hoover facing towards right and reverse of this coin depicts a late 1920’s radio representing Mrs. Hoover’s first public radio address as First Lady, She was the First Lady to do so.
