Estonia Post celebrates Chinese New Year

The debut to celebrate Chinese New Year of Stamp started in 2011. The year 2020 is the year of the Rat. This year also inaugurates the 12-year cycle in the Chinese zodiac. Estonia Post introduced a special stamp to welcome the year. It is also the 10th stamp in the Lunar New year philatelic series and it is designed by Triin Heimann.

There are 12 signs in the Chinese Zodiac. According to the legend, the Jade Emperor organized a race between 12 animals. The Ox was the leader as they approach the fining line but the clever rat Jump off the Ox back just before and won. In the Chinese culture, the rat symbolizes intelligence, wealth and vitality. People born in the year of the rat are traditionally considered to be imaginative, generous and successful.
