The United States of America had issued this commemorative 10 Dollars coin with the theme of Martin Van Buren’s Liberty in the year 2008. The Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005 contains a provision to provide continuity of the First Spouse Gold Coin Program during those times in which a president served without a first spouse.Martin Van Buren got married to Hannah in the year 1807; his wife Hannah died in the year 1819. Van Buren was a widower for 18 years when he became president in 1837.
The obverse of this coin depicts Design from the Liberty Seated Dime minted between 1837 and 1891. The reverse of this coin depicts Young Martin Van Buren reading a book under a tree; the background coin depicts tavern operated by his family in Kinderhook, New York.
