Kuru was the name of the Vedic Indo-Aryan tribal group during the Vedic Period into the late Bronze and Iron Ages. It was located around the modern city of Delhi, with its capital at Indraprastha. We can find the reference of Kuru in the Indian epic like Mahabharata. Mahapadna Nanda; the first emperor of the Nanda Empire in ancient India, incorporated the Kuru domain into the Magadhan Empire around 350 BC.

We also get the reference of Kuru in the Vedic literature after the Rigveda period. The Kuru had appeared as the branch of early Indo-Aryan ground that ruled the Ganga-Yamuna Doan and modern Haryana. The focus in the later Vedic period shifted out of Punjab, into the Haryana and the Doab, and thus to the Kuru clan.

This silver half karshapana which weighs around 1.48g was issued from Kuru Janapada. The obverse of this coin depicts Triangular Triskeli with the dot and the reverse of this coin depicts the six-armed symbol.
