Sarah Polk was the wife of James K. Polk the 11th President of the United States of America from 1845 to 1849.Sarah Polk was born on 4th September 1803 to Elizabeth Whitsitt and Joel Childress, a prominent planter, merchant, and land speculator; she was the third of their six children of Elizabeth and Joel. Sarah Childress Polk received an education traditionally available only to the most privileged young women of her time. br>
Sarah Polk devoted her married life to her husband James K. Polk’s political carrier. She used to organize his campaign, writing speeches, handling his correspondence and developing a network of valuable political friendships. She also used to read newspapers and magazines and marked the important article and leaves them on a chair outside the President’s office for him to read.
