According to Indian epic Mahabharata, Vidarbha is amongst one of the kingdom ruled by Yadu king (Bhoja Yadava).

The Sebakas ruled the Vidarbha region from about 30 BC to the late 1st Century. Most of the coins issued by this dynasty were in copper and were square. The coins issued by them at the beginning of their reign bears Bull emblem along with the king's name written in Brahmi. Their coins also bear symbols like arched hill, Nandipada, wheel, etc. Coins that they issued during the latter part of their reign were inspired by the Chutus and were struck in lead. This coin bears horse symbol on obverse and Chaitya River on the reverse.

This copper unit which weighs around 11.08g was issued from Sebakas of Vidarbha. The obverse of this coin bears a bull walking to right in front of a triangular headed standard, six arched hill and tree in railing, two swastikas and Ashokan Brahmi legend ’Rano Sebakas’ above the bull. The reverse of this coin depicts double orb above the tri-ratna and nandipada symbol.
