Panama-Pacific Exposition Gold 50 Dollars

The Panama-Pacific International Exposition was a world fair held in San Francisco on 20th February to 4th December 1915. It was a vast fair that had covered over 600 acres and stretched along two and a half miles of waterfront property. In the year 1906; before the nine years of this event, San Francisco had experienced a terrible earthquake and had also declared one of America’s worst national disasters. After the incident, the city had overcome with a great challenge to rebuild and by the time the Exposition opened in the year 1915, the city was ready to welcome the world.The United States of America had issued this gold 50 dollars octagonal shape coin in the year 1915 with the theme of the Panama-Pacific Exposition. This coin was issued to commemorate the Panama-Pacific International Exposition. The Exposition was held in San Francisco and celebrated the successful completion of the Panama Canal.
The obverse of this coin depicts the image of Minerva, the goddess of wisdom, skill, contemplation, spinning, weaving, and agriculture and horticulture. The reverse of this coin depicts Owl preached on the California pine branch.
