Jersey Post unveiled a special Rat stamp

Jersey Post has released the fifth issue in the Lunar New Year stamp series to celebrate the Lunar Zishu year which is the year of the Rat also known as the spring festival. It is the most important celebration in the Chinese calendar. Designed by Wang Humming in Beijing, the stamp shown a rat in gold against a red background.

In the Chinese tradition rat is perceived to be witty, nimble, caution but aggressive. They are a clever, quick thinker and often successful who are born in the year of the Zishu rat. The stamp denotes the Chinese fable rat bravery started the world. They believed that before the beginning of the world there was only chaos. There is a legend of the brave rat coming from the sky and os the world started.

The stamp introduced by Jersey Post featured a bowl that symbolizes the world which rat opens from within. The seal in Chinese has also illustrated the symbol of the rat.
