Namibia is a country in southwest Africa. It is distinguished by the Namib Desert along its Atlantic Ocean coast. The country is home to diverse wildlife, including a significant cheetah population. The capital, Windhoek, and coastal town Swakopmund contain German colonial-era buildings such as Windhoek's Christuskirche, built in 1907. In the north, Etosha National Park’s salt pan draws game including rhinos and giraffes. Namibia is also the driest country in Sub-Saharan Africa.Namibian dollar is the currency of the country since 1993. It is sub-divided into 100 cents. The dollar replaced the South African rand after its independence. The Bank of Namibia issued the first banknotes on 15 September 1993 and, in December, issued the first national coins.
Today we are discussing a 20 Dollar banknote issued in 2011. The obverse of this note has the portrait of Dr. Sam Nujoma - First President of Namibia to left and the Parliament building in Windhoek in centre. A BON see-through logo to right with a Green-to-magenta OVI diamond with latent image '20' over the parliament building.
The reverse depicts Red Hartebeest (Alcelaphus caama) in centre with the Namibian Coat of Arms to centre left. This orange note has the portrait of Dr Sam Nujoma and Electrotype '20' as its watermark.
