World's First QR Code Coin

QR Codes are becoming more and more popular, and have started to pop up everywhere. The Royal Dutch Mint, in the year 2011, released the world’s first coin with QR codes built in it. This special issue was released to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Mint in Utrecht.Juan Jose Sanchez Castano, an artist at the Royal Dutch Mint, incorporated unique elements of the Mint building, along with a 3D portrait of Queen Beatrix. There are even 6 hidden letters engraved on the coin, which are only visible by rotating it into the light. This coin is also the first in which the Queen is smiling with an open mouth.
The mint released a limited run of these coins gold with a cost of 10 Euros and Silver with a cost of 5 Euros. When the code on the reverse is scanned it takes you to the Dutch Royal mints website.
