Nils Gustaf Dalen, a Swedish Nobel Laureate, industrialist and inventor was born on 30th November 1869. He was a long-term CEO of the AGA company and inventor of the AGA cooker and the Dalen light.

Dalen registered a total of 99 patents during his lifetime. He invented revolutionary systems for beacon lighting, founded Swedish industrial gas company AGA and continued to work even after a serious accident left him blind. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in for his work on lighthouse technology.

To honor this great inventor, Sweden Postal Department has issued 75 Swedish Ore commemorative postage stamp in 1972. The stamp is beautifully designed on the blue-violet color background. It depicts the portrait of Dalen in foreground.
