One of the leading personalities of India, Shri M.V. Arunachalam was born on 19th July 1929. He made his mark in the fields of business and community service.He was born in a village called Pallathur, Tamil Nadu, in a family of Nattukottai Chettiars. He completed his formal education in Madras and obtained a B.Sc. (Geology) degree from the Presidency College in 1948.
Arunachalam served on the Boards of various companies across industry sectors, leaving his indelible mark over their future growth paths. He was the President of the Indian National Committee of International Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of the Reserve Bank of India.
For his contributions to the development of the industrial activity, he was awarded The Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold and Silver Star by the Emperor of Japan in 1996. To honor him India Postal Department has issued a commemorative postage stamp on 15th May 2018.
