The United States of America had issued this commemorative half dollar with the theme of Vermont Sesquicentennial (Bennington) in the year 1927. This half-dollar was issued by the United States of America to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Bennington.The Vermont Sesquicentennial (Bennington) Half Dollar is also called as Bennington–Vermont a half dollar or the Battle of Bennington Sesquicentennial a half dollar. This coin was designed by Charles Keck.
The obverse of this coin depicts the bust of Ira Allen, founder of Vermont facing towards the right with the legend ‘THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’ at the top and the legend ‘IRA ALLEN FOUNDER OF VERMONT’ at the bottom. The reverse of this coin depicts catamount-a large wild cat native to Vermont—and the date of the Battle of Bennington.
