Suleiman I; also known as Suleiman the Magnificent was the ruler of the Ottoman Empire from 1520 to 1566 AD. He was the tenth and the longest-reigning sultan of the Ottoman Empire. Under his administration, the Ottoman state ruled over at least 25 million people.

Suleiman was born on 6th November 1494, in Trabzon to Sehzade Selim and Hafsa Sultan. He succeeded his father as Sultan in September 1520. The prominent monarch of 16th century Europe, he was known as "the Magnificent" in the West, he was always Kanuni Suleiman or "The Lawgiver" to his own Ottoman subjects.

During his reign Battle of Mohacs took place between the Ottoman Empire and the forces of the Kingdom of Hungary, led by Louis II. It was regarded as one of the most consequential battles in Central European history. In its wake, Hungarian resistance collapsed, and the Ottoman Empire became the leading power in Central Europe.

The above shown gold Sultani-Altin was issued under the reign of Suleiman from Sidraqapsi mint. It depicts the Titles of the Sultan mint formula and accession date on its obverse face "Sultan Suleiman Sah bin Sultan Selim Sah azze nasruhu duribe fi Sidraqapsi”. The reverse of a coin engraved Inscriptions "Daribun nadri sahib-ul-izzi ven-nasri fil-berri vel-bahr" in four lines within the border of pellets.
