Norfolk is the waterfront city situated in the southeastern region of Virginia. It is home to Naval Station Norfolk, a massive naval base on the Chesapeake Bay. City Norfolk is an independent city in the commonwealth of Virginia in the United States of America.Norfolk city had a long history as it acts as a strategic military and transportation point. This city has the largest naval base in the world, Naval Station Norfolk, which is located in Norfolk along with one of NATO's two Strategic Command headquarters.
This United States of America had issued half dollar silver commemorative coin to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Norfolk becoming a district. This commemorative coin was issued by the United States of America in the year 1936. The obverse of this coin depicts the official seal of the city of Norfolk—a ship plow and stocks of grain. The reverse of this coin depicts mace flanked by two floral sprays and the year 1636.
