At the start of this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a new series of coins. According to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the government will issue a new series of Rs 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20. This coin is going to be visually impaired-friendly.
The highest denomination of this series, Rs 20 will not be circular but it will be a polygon. These coins are designed by the National School of Design this coin.
The above-shown image depicts two rupee coin from this new series. The obverse face of the new coin will have the lion capital of the Ashoka Pillar with the line ‘Satyameva Jayate’ inscribed in Hindi. The left flank will have the word ‘Bharat’ written in Devanagari, and the right flank has the word ‘India’ written in English.
The reverse face will have ‘Rs 2’ written in English numerals with the rupee symbol above it. The top right and bottom right peripheries have the denomination written in words in Hindi and English respectively.
