This silver half dollar was issued by the United States of America in the year 1936 with the theme of York County, Maine Tercentenary. It was issued to commemorate the 300th anniversary of York Country.York County is the nethermost County of the United States of America situated in South Carolina. It is a part of Charlotte metropolitan area and the Metropolitan Statistical Area that includes Charlotte, North Carolina, Concord, North Carolina, Gastonia, North Carolina, and Rock Hill, South Carolina.
The obverse of this half dollar depicts stockade on the Saco River. The reverse of this coin depicts the seal of York County.
