Todywalla auction is conducting an auction on 20th October in Lucknow. This auction will present some of the most fascination specimens from the different collection and Indian coinage. The highlight of this lot is the gold five rupees of King Edward VII. The auction has offered this coin for the estimated price of INR 150,000.
This extremely fine and rare coin was issued in 1902. The obverse of this coin depicts the bust of the King facing left with the continuous Latin abbreviation legend ‘EDWARDVS VII DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX FID: DEF: IND: IMP:’ read in English as ‘Edward the Seventh, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India’ within the toothed rim.
The reverse of this coin illustrated the image of St George slaying a dragon with date in the exergue within the toothed rime.
