These commemorative nickel five cents were issued by the United States of America Return of Monticello in the year 2006.The obverse of this coin depicts the portrait of Thomas Jefferson inspired by Rembrandt Peale's portrait of Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States of America from 1801 to 1809. According to the first Rembrandt Peale life study of Jefferson which was done in 1800; when Jefferson was 57 years old and was appointed as the Vice-President of the United States of America. The reverse of this coin depicts a classic, familiar rendition of Monticello, President Thomas Jefferson's Virginia home, and first chosen as the coin's reverse in 1938.
