The 25 centavo Fleet of Columbus stamp issued in the year 1937 is an interesting stamp issued by Post Cuba and is among the set of 23 seven stamps in the series of Society of American writers and artists.
The stamp series depict a unique feature of different counties. The stamp with the denomination of 25 centavos depicts the fleet of Columbus. This lilac coloured stamp features a fleet of ships on the ocean.
The stamps were issued on the 13th October 1937 and were issued only for a period of three days during which no other stamps were sold at post offices. Receipts from sales above 30,000 pesos were donated to the Association of American Writers and Artists. Remainders were overprinted “SVP” (without postal value).
The 25c Fleet of Columbus stamp is popular with topical collectors of Columbus and ships. The stamp features the fleet in the centre and is inscribed with “Republica de Cuba” at the top and “Las Carabelas de Colon” at the bottom flanked by the denomination.
