The Bank of the Lao issued Kip banknotes in 8 distinct denominations, including this 100,000 Lao Kip banknote. They are part of the current Lao Kip banknote series. The Bank of the Lao P.D.R. started issuing these 100000 Kip banknotes in 2011. They are currently still in circulation.Laos' highest-value banknote is the 100,000 kip bill. On the obverse is the portrait of Kaysone Phomvihane, the first leader of the independent Laos People's Revolutionary Party, President, and Prime Minister. Pha That Luang, a large, gold-covered Buddhist stupa in Vientiane, is depicted on the front side. The reverse of the 100,000 Lak bill shows the former home of the Phomvihane Memorial Museum in Vientiane, now transformed into a museum. The banknote measures 152 x 68 mm in size. The themes used are famous people, heads of state, and houses.
