Dr. Rajendra Prasad was India's first and longest-serving president. He was also a lawyer, teacher, writer, journalist, and India's freedom fighter. Dr. Rajendra Prasad held the office of the first President of India from 1950 to 1962. In 1957, he was again re-elected as the president and became the only president to serve two full terms.Dr. Rajendra Prasad joined Indian National Congress during the Indian Independence Movement. He participated in the Salt Satyagraha' of 1931 and the 'Quit India Movement of 1942 and was also jailed along with many leading freedom fighters. He was awarded the highest civilian award - Bharat Ratna - in 1962.
This commemorative stamp was issued in the year 2015, by the Government of India, to commemorate him and his work.
