Stamps Issued by Pakistan’s Bahawalpur Province

In 1802, the princely state of Bahawalpur was founded in the Punjab region. In 1833, the prince of Bahawalpur made an alliance with the British after which the princely state became a part of the British Raj.After Independence, India was partitioned into India and Pakistan and Bahawalpur became a part of Pakistan on 5th October 1947. It was more or less autonomous until 15th October 1955, when it became a province of West Pakistan.
Between 1947 and 49, Bahawalpur had its own postal system which also issued stamps. These stamps along with other stamps of Pakistan issued up to 1955 have become very popular in the market.
On 1st May 1946, stamps were issued with Bahawalpur Flags of Allied Nations to commemorate the Allied victory in World War II.
