Gold Tanka of Bengal Sultan Rukn Al-Din Barbak Shah

Rukn Al-Din Barbak Shah was the son of Nasiruddin Mahmud Shah. During the reign of Nasiruddin Mahmud Shah, Rukn Al-din Barbak Shah was appointed as the governor of Satgaon. After the death of Nasiruddin Mahmud Shah in the year 1459 CE, Rukn Al-Din Barbak Shah sat on the throne of Bengal Sultanate. Rukn Al din Barbak Shah sat on the throne of Bengal Sultanate in the year 1459 and ruled it till 1474 CE.After sitting on the throne of Bengal Sultanate Rukn Al-Din Barbak Shah had faced a conflict against the Gajapati Kingdom of Kalinga when they captured the fort of Mandaran. Rukn Al-Din Barbak Shah sent his general; Shah Ismail Ghazi against the Gajapati Kingdom defeated them and recaptured the fort of Mardaran.
This gold Tanka which weighs around 10.7g was issued by Rukn Al-Din Barkar Shah. This gold tanka was sold for INR 2,50,000 in an auction of Todyawalla which was held in Mumbai on 7th November 2014.
