The United States of America had issued this commemorative quarter dollar with the theme of San Antonio Missions National Historical Park in the year 2019. The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is the UNESCO world heritage site which preserves four of the five Spanish frontier missions in San Antonio, Texas, USA. The history and legacy of San Antonia began with a simple ceremony when, in 1718, Franciscans and Spanish representatives established the first mission.This quarter dollar was issued by the United States of America in the year 2019. The reverse of this coin depicts elements of the Spanish Colonial Real coin to pay tribute to the missions. Within the quadrants are symbols of the missions: wheat symbolizes farming; the arches and bell symbolize community; a lion represents Spanish cultural heritage, and a symbol of the San Antonio River represents irrigation methods and life-sustaining resources.
