Saif Al-Din Firuz Shah was the sultan of Bengal, he ruled the Bengal Sultanate from 1488 CE till 1490 CE. The real name of Saif Al-Din Firuz Shah was Malik Indil, he was the former army commander of Bengal’s Ilyas Shah and the second ruler of Habshi dynasty of Bengal. Saif-Al-Din Firuz Shah sat on the throne of Bengal Sultanate after Shahzada Barbak, the founder of the Habshi Dynasty.After Sitting on the throne of Bengal Sultanate, Saif Al-Din Firuz Shah issued coins in gold and silver, but mostly he issued coin in silver metal. All the coins issued by him depict king’s name and title on the obverse side of the coin and Shahada on the reverse side of the coin. He used to issue all his coins from three known mints: Dar-Al-Darb, Fathadad, and Khazana.
This silver tanka was issued by him from the mint Fathabad, the weight of this coin is around 10.6g. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king and reverse of this coin is inscribed with the mint name.
