Simple, affordable, reliable and environment-friendly has made it sustainable means of transportation. Its versatility and uniqueness of bicycle which has been used for two centuries made the General Assembly decide to declare 3rd June as World Bicycle Day.The motive behind to encourage World Bicycle Day is for fostering sustainable developed, strengthening education, including physical education for children and young people. The United Nations also wants to promote health, prevent disease, promote tolerance, mutual understanding and respect social inclusion and culture of peace.
This day is also celebrated and promoted for strengthening physical and mental. India post also issued Stamp commemorating Asian Games sports Bicycle race in 1990.
