The 44th Napex stamp show will be organised by National Philatelic Exhibitions of Washington D.C. from 7th to 9th June at Hilton McLean Tysons Corner, 7920 Jones Branch Drive, McLean, Va. 69 dealers from the US, Canada and the UK will be offering interesting stamps and covers for sale. Over 200 frames of competitive exhibits will be showcased. Children will be given stamps for free to promote philately among the youth. The USPS, UNPA and Israeli Philatelic Agency representatives will also be present.

First-day cover producers will offer their products for sale on 7th June. Interesting stamps from Israel and Judaica will be auctioned by the House of Zion of Redwood City, Calif. on 9th June. The national conventions of U.S. Philatelic Classics Society, Society of Israel Philatelists and Bermuda Philatelic Society will be organised. American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors, Ebony Society of Philatelic Events and Reflections and the International Society of Worldwide Stamp Collectors will also have their meetings.

Napex is the World Series of Philately show in the Washington, D.C., area. The exhibition winner will be allowed to take part in the Champion of Champions competition which will be held from 1st to 4th August at the American Philatelic Society Stampshow in Omaha, Neb. Several expert philatelists will be judging the exhibits.

Cacheted covers and souvenir cards commemorating the 50th anniversary of the first manned moon landing will be released. A different cancellation will be offered by the USPS every day of the show. A retired BEP plate printer named Mike Bean will be printing the engraved cachets and souvenir cards.

Guy Gasser will present an American Philatelic Society On-the-Road course, “Washington-Franklins: There’s No Need to be Afraid” on 6th June. Students will get a chance to analyse designs, printing methods, perforations and watermarks of the stamp series called the Washington-Franklins which were issued between 1908 and 1922.

Organisers believe that Napex is the largest and friendliest stamp show on the East Coast where experts, as well as beginners, are welcome.
