Islam Shah Suri, also known as Jalal Khan, was the ruler of Delhi from Suri Dynasty who ruled Delhi from 1545 CE till 1552 CE. He was the second ruler of Suri Dynasty who sat on the throne of Delhi after Sher Shah Suri.
The Legends written on the coins are also similar to the coins of Sher Shah Suri. The obverse of the coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king with the name of the king written in ‘Nagari’ at the bottom. The reverse of the coins is inscribed with Shahada with the name of four caliphs in the margin.
This silver tanka was issued by Islam Shah Suri from the mint Satgaon during the Hijri Year 953. The obverse of this tanka is inscribed with the name and title of Islam Shah Suri with his name written in ‘Nagari’ at the bottom within the square. The reverse of the coin is inscribed with shahada within the square with the name of four caliphs written in the margin.
