Norway issued two new stamps to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the wonderful Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland. The stamps feature two popular sculptures created by Gustav. The stamp for postage within Europe features a sculpture of an angry little boy called Sinnataggen. The one issued for international postage features a sculpture named Kysset (The Kiss).
Vigeland’s works have been honoured on postage stamps seven times before this as well. Norway is going to witness a national celebration of Vigeland this year which includes a new exhibition at the Vigeland Museum that opened last week. The postal release by Posten Norge is a part of this celebration. Oslo’s Vigeland Park at Frogner features some of the greatest works of the iconic sculptor.
