California is one the state of United States of America. It is one of the most populous states and third largest state by its area. The Greater Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay is the nation’s second and fifth most popular state in the urban region. One of the most populous cities of this state is Los Angeles.

California is considered as a global trendsetter in popular culture, innovation, environmentalism, and politics. This state is also considered as the origin of the American film industry, the hippie counter- culture, fast food, the Internet, and the personal computer. Around 58 percent of the state's economy is centered on finance, government, real estate services, technology, and professional, scientific and technical business services.

The United States of America had issued a commemorative quarter dollar with the theme of the state of California in the year 2005. This quarter dollar is the first dollar issued in the year 2005 and overall it is 31st coin issued in 50 State Quarters Program. The reverse of this coin features naturalist and conservationist John Muir admiring Yosemite Valley's monolithic granite headwall and a soaring California condor.
