The Sayyid Dynasty was the fourth of five dynasties that ruled over the Delhi Sultanate. They succeeded the Tughlaqs and ruled Delhi from 1414 CE to 1451 AD.
Muhammad Bin Farid (Muhammad Shah) was the third monarch of the Sayyid dynasty who ruled Delhi Sultanate from 1434 to 1445. He issued various gold, silver, copper, and billon coin from Delhi mint. These coins were struck in the denomination of Tanka and Falus.
The above shown silver Tanka also issued in his reign from Hadrat Delhi mint. The obverse of a coin has Arabic legend ‘al-Sultan al-'Azam Abu al-Muhamid Muhammad Shah bin Farid Shah Bin Khizr Shah al-Sultan’. On the other hand, the reverse of a coin depicted the legend ‘al-Khalifah Amir al-Momineen Khulidat Khilafatahu’ and date.
