Arkansas was one of the states of the United States of America; it is situated in the southern region of the United States of America. State Arkansas is 29th largest state by area and 33rd most populous state amongst 50 states of the United States of America. This state got its name from the river named ‘Arkansas’. Word ‘Arkansas’ is derived from the French term Arcansas, the plural term for Quapaws. Quapaws were the Dhegiha Siouan-speaking tribe of the Native Americans who got settled in Arkansas around 13th Century. The capital and most populous city of state Arkansas are Little Rocks, it is situated in a central portion of the state, a hub for transportation, business, culture, and government.

The United States of America had issued a commemorative quarter dollar of with the theme of the state Arkansas in the year 2003. This quarter dollar is the fifth coin released in the year 2003 and overall it is 25th coin release in 50 state Quarters Program. The reverse side of this quarter dollar depicts rice stalks, a diamond and mallard gracefully flying above a lake.
