Dinesh Nandini Dalimia, a renowned poet, story writer, and novelist of Hindi literature was born on 16th February 1928 in Udaipur.Dinesh started her literary activities at a mere age of 13 years. In 1946 she got married to Ramkrishna Dalmia, the third biggest industrialist in the country. She continued her education even after her marriage and had the distinction of being Rajasthan’s first post-graduate woman.
She protested against the purdah system and discrimination against women. India Government awarded her with the third highest civilian award ‘Padma Bhushan’ in 2006 for her contribution to literature. Her notable works include Shabnam, Niraash Aasha, Mujhe Maaf Karna, and Yeh Bhi Jhut hai.
Besides this, she was also recipients of several awards and honors such as Sakseria Award, Mahila Sasakthikaran Puraskar, and Prem Chand Award.
In 2009, India Post released a 500 Paisa (5 Rupee) commemorative stamp on her.
