Dame Margot Fonteyn was an outstanding ballerina of the English stage, her musicality, technical perfection and precisely conceived and executed characterization made her international star. She is also the first homeroom English ballerina and became an iconic and much-loved figure.
Jersey Post issued six special stamps to honour the world-renowned ballerina; she performed at the Jersey Opera House twice. These stamps were illustrated by Christian David Moore. These stamp celebrated the centenary of Fonteyn’s birthday this may by depicting here few famous performances.
The images in the stamp show her performance of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Princess Aurora in the Sleeping Beauty and an indigenous goddess in Amazon Forest.
